While I was very hopeful and excited to read this book, I’ve been slightly disappointed. The content covered is good and the author hits on very pertinent aspects of the business but the book is laid out so poorly; she goes from one point right to another unrelated point. From what I’ve read about the author, she is highly experienced in the staging industry and knows what she’s talking about but this book is just so hard to follow. In her defense, she did state several times throughout the book that she is “not a professional writer.”

I highly recommend Home Staging for Profit to anyone serious about starting a home staging business. This valuable book walks you through all aspects of the business and is chock full of helpful and practical advice. It provides many details as well as resources that will give you the confidence to get started. Because I was so pleased with this book I have just ordered Rearrange It!-How to Start an Interior Redesign Business also by Barbara Jennings.

This is an important book for anyone starting a home staging business. I started a home staging business before I read this book. However, upon reading it I realized how much I did not know and decided to go through decorate-redecorate.com for home staging certification. The book is detailed, current and full of relevant pointers, tips and information on the art and business of home staging. Anytime Barbara Jennings publishes a book on this topic I will read it (after reading this book I bought two of her other books: Decor Secrets Revealed & Where there’s a Wall there’s a Way). Jennings is clearly a consummate authority on the subject.
